Artist Statement

Over the past forty years, nature has remained the primary source of inspiration behind my work—shaping not only my landscapes, but also influencing my more abstract and contemporary pieces. No matter the style, my creative direction has always been guided by the forms, colors, and atmospheres of the natural world.

The quiet beauty of the New England countryside first informed my artistic perspective, with its subtle light, coastal textures, and changing seasons. My travels later broadened that visual language. The warmth and luminosity of the Mediterranean Sea introduced a softer, more diffused palette, while the vibrant colors of the Caribbean Islands encouraged greater boldness and expressive freedom.

In contrast, the vast skies and dramatic horizons of the American West brought a sense of scale and emotional depth to my work. Its rich sunsets—layered with amber, crimson, and violet—continue to influence my approach to color and composition.

While much of my work is rooted in representation, my intention is not strict realism, but interpretation. I strive to capture the feeling of a place—the light, the air, the emotional resonance of a landscape. Even in my abstract work, echoes of nature remain present in texture, movement, and tone.

Across four decades, these environments have collectively shaped my artistic voice. My paintings are an ongoing dialogue with the landscapes that have inspired me—an effort to translate their beauty into a personal and expressive visual language.
